Oscar winner Steven Spielberg is directing the remake of Bernstein's "West Side Story" - the classic tale of young love set against the backdrop of gang rivalries in New York in 1957. The film will be released in late 2021. Based on a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony Kushner, Spielberg reimagines the legendary musical: starring Ansel Elgort (Tony); Ariana DeBose (Anita); David Alvarez (Bernardo); Mike Faist (Riff); Brian d'Arcy James (Officer Krupke); Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank); Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino), Rita Moreno (Valentina) ; and, for the first time, Rachel Zegler (Maria.) GRAMMY winner Gustavo Dudamel is the conductor of this gripping soundtrack, conducting the New York Philharmonic and others.
