Where You Live is her seventh studio album and, according to the artist, explores themes of home, love and memory. It was recorded in a San Francisco studio specially prepared for Tracy and produced by Tchad Blake, already known for his innovative work for idiosyncratic artists such as Peter Gabriel, Pearl Jam, Tom Waits, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, Los Lobos, Randy Newman and many more. Guitarist Joe Gore (Tom Waits, PJ Harvey, Eels), drummer / percussionist Quinn (Paula Cole, Belinda Carlisle, Patti LaBelle, Vesta Williams) participated as musicians on "Where You Live", other guests were Blake's studio partner Mitchell Froom and Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), who also plays bass on the single "Change".
