"Mixing up the Medicine," for starters, is a quote from Bob Dylan's 1965 hit "Subterranean Homesick Blues," a song that, with its catchphrase-like lyrics, is sometimes referred to as the first rap song in music history and was accompanied by an early music video in which Dylan successively flips up and then drops words written on large cardboard panels to the appropriate parts of the song's lyrics.
