Arild Andersen, one of the most respected jazz double bass players, presents his first solo album. "Landloper" is wide-ranging in its musical and creative scope and was mostly recorded at the Oslo jazz club "Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene" (the bassist recorded one of the tracks at his home).
The selection of repertoire in this concert reflects Arild's artistic development over the years and presents Andersen's own compositions ("Dreamhorse", "Mira", "Landloper") as well as traditional Norwegian music ("Old Stev"), a standard ("A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square") and free jazz classics in a new light (Albert Ayler's "Ghosts", Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman", Charlie Haden's "Song for Che"). In his performances, Andersen combines his masterful bass playing with loops created in real time, which add an atmospheric dimension to the solo playing and open up new possibilities for interaction.
Recorded on June 2020, Victoria National Jazz Scene, Oslo.
