Popis
To mark the 150th birthday of French composer Maurice Ravel, Korean star pianist Seong-Jin Cho is releasing his most ambitious project to date on Deutsche Grammophon. The Ravel: Complete-Edition contains his collected works for piano solo, as well as the two piano concertos, spread over three CDs, enclosed in a beautiful hardcover book with over 40 pages in 10-inch format. In addition to exclusive art prints and previously unpublished photos of Seong-Jin Cho, the product includes a three-month free membership to the STAGE+ streaming service, giving access to additional content such as a recording of Cho's acclaimed Carnegie Hall concert. The Korean's sensitive interpretations of Ravel have been celebrated by audiences and critics worldwide, cementing his status as one of today's most elegant and accomplished pianists - ten years after his victory at the Chopin Competition. NDR named the first release Album of the Week, a "breathtaking recording". "It is fascinating how he illustrates the different, often overlapping layers of Ravel's sound cosmos with an infinite palette of colors and nuances of touch," the broadcaster said, adding: "Above all, Cho never puts on a show - he takes a back seat, it's all about the music." The Financial Times stated: "Ravel playing of such perfection in detail is not often experienced."
