Popis
River of Music, the new album by the "musical wizards" of the Kanneh-Masons (The Guardian), brings all seven siblings - Isata, Braimah, Sheku, Konya, Jeneba, Aminata and Mariatu - back together after the success of Carnival (2020). The album features new arrangements of everything from classical works to folk songs. The centerpiece is Schubert's Trout Quintet - a family favorite that the siblings have been listening to together since childhood. River of Music was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in the summer of 2024 and tells the story of how the Kanneh-Masons' love of music has been passed down through the generations. From the Welsh grandmother who followed her love across the sea to Sierra Leone, to the Antiguan grandfather who passed on his own dreams of a career in music, this album celebrates the Kanneh-Mason family's musical roots. "This is a story about our family and the sources of our music. Music flows like a river through the generations, and our passion to listen to and play music comes from our grandparents and their stories, from the places and dreams they passed on..." (Konya Kanneh-Mason, Grandad's Dream)
