Popis
Revelling in dream worlds with Massenet and Faure, making the cello smile with Elgar, chasing elves with Popper and dancing into other worlds with Scott Joplin's ragtime rhythms ... After acclaimed albums of great concerts and chamber music, Gautier Capucon now discovers with intuition the world of seemingly small pieces, which for him, however, is a big world with which he musically tells his autobiography. Gautier Capucon, who is appreciated and loved not only for his immense musicality but also for his sympathetic charisma, associates a very personal memory with each of these pieces on his new album, and each one serves a very special facet of his instrument (Capucon: "Without my cello, no intuition!"). This ranges from the Swan by Capucon's compatriot Camille Saint-Saens ("Memory of my childhood in Savoy, it was the first work I played in public"), to memories of his student days in Paris and Vienna with Rachmaninoff Elgar, Joplin, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak. But he also evokes the typical sense of family he has retained all these years: "The Meditation from Thais is a memory of my maternal grandmother, who loved the piece so much."
