Steve Hackett & Steve Rothery: The Roaring Waves (CD+BLURAY AUDIO)

Renowned guitarists Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery are pleased to present their long-awaited collaborative album, *The Roaring Waves*. Seven instrumental pieces that range from skillfully absurd to brilliantly sublime, yet all share a common theme: the depths of the sea. Rothery explains: “In the winter, when the weather was stormy, you could hear the sound of the waves. Whitby was a very inspiring place to live, a very poetic and powerful place to grow up. I think this album is a way to express some of those memories and emotions about what the sea has meant to me.” “The Roaring Waves” was created over a period of nearly eight years, although the original idea to record an album together had emerged three years earlier. However, due to their respective day jobs and touring schedules, they were unable to work together for months at a time. The recording sessions at the Racket Club and in their respective home studios, however, yielded a wealth of creativity. “Our approach was a bit old school, like the idea of friends getting together in the garage to play and hang out,” says Hackett about their creative process. Currently, it’s a solo album, since neither guitarist has time for live performances, let alone any plans to record another album together. As the tides come and go, all eyes are fixed on the empty horizon, waiting for one last ship to be brought ashore so they can finally return home. “The Roaring Waves” will be available as a limited-edition CD & Blu-ray Audio Mediabook featuring Dolby Atmos mixes by Andy Bradfield, as well as a gatefold 180g LP & LP booklet, mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using half-speed mastering. The album will also be available as a standard CD jewel case.
