Popis
"The Boys Of Dungeon Lane" is a collection of rare and revealing insights into memories that have never been shared before, along with some newly inspired love songs from one of the most culturally significant figures of our time. These extraordinary new songs show Paul writing with rare candor about his childhood in post-war Liverpool, the resilience of his parents and early adventures with George Harrison and John Lennon, long before the world had ever heard of Beatlemania. Of "Days We Left Behind", Paul said: "This song is very full of memories for me. The album title 'The Boys Of Dungeon Lane' comes from a line in the lyrics of that song. I've been thinking about exactly that, about the time I left behind, and I often wonder if I'm just writing about the past. But then I think: how could you write about anything else? It's just a lot of memories of Liverpool. The middle of the song is about John and Forthlin Road, the street I used to live in. Dungeon Lane is very close by. I used to live in Speke, a working class neighborhood. We didn't have much, but it didn't matter because everyone was so great and you didn't realize how little you had." In addition to the poignant reflections, "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane" also contains new love songs in an incomparable style. Listeners can immerse themselves in a world that existed before everything changed, and receive memories they've never shared before - in a way that touches with extraordinary honesty. The Boys of Dungeon Lane were formed five years ago when Paul met with producer Andrew Watt for a cup of tea and an exchange of ideas. During the meeting, Paul strummed his guitar and came across a chord that even he didn't know. Undeterred and driven by his love of experimentation, he kept changing the notes until he found a three-chord sequence that Watt suggested for recording. This session resulted in the album's opening track, "As You Lie There". Encouraged by his new producer, Paul continued to work on the song and played most of the instruments himself - very much in the style of his 1970 solo debut album "McCartney". Thus began the journey to Paul's 18th studio album, which he released alone. Paul's busy schedule meant that the album was recorded in short, efficient sessions between stops on his five-year world tour, which took him alternately to Los Angeles and Sussex. With no pressure from a record label and no deadline, the pair were able to produce the album on their own schedule and to their complete satisfaction. "The Boys Of Dungeon Lane" showcases McCartney's musical range on a variety of instruments that Paul has mastered in many different styles. You'll find Wings-style rock, Beatles-style harmonies, McCartney-style grooves, understated intimacy, melody-driven storytelling and characterful songs.
