Popis
Fifty years ago, an act of pure musical magic unfolded on the stage of the Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, when Frank Sinatra’s timeless cool met the powerful swing of the Count Basie Orchestra. This historic event was captured on the album “Sinatra at the Sands,” which remains a beloved classic to this day. It offers the perfect combination of old-school pop music and swinging big-band jazz. To mark the 60th anniversary of “Sinatra at the Sands,” Frank Sinatra’s legendary first live album, this deluxe 5-CD edition presents five complete, previously unreleased concerts from the sold-out Las Vegas residency that also gave rise to the acclaimed original double album. “Sinatra at the Sands: 60th Anniversary” includes all performances from January 26 through February 1, 1966, remixed and remastered by Sinatra’s longtime sound engineer Larry Walsh based on the original four-track live tapes. The limited edition is released in a 6-panel fold-out digipack featuring a 48-page booklet with new liner notes by Charlie Pignone, president of Frank Sinatra Enterprises, numerous recollections from contemporaries, detailed track information, and—for the first time—the complete lineup of the band. It also includes rare behind-the-scenes photos showing Sinatra with bandleader Count Basie and arranger Quincy Jones.
