In the comparatively small chamber music oeuvre of Max Bruch there are several musical treasures to be discovered. Among them are without doubt the Piano Quintet in G minor and the Swedish Dances op. 63 in their original version for violin and piano. Piers Lane and the Goldner String Quartet take on these unjustly neglected works and also present the young composer's 1st String Quartet op. 9, which is still firmly rooted in German Romanticism.
