Modest Jazz Trio: Good Friday Blues (LP)

Recorded in the early hours of Good Friday 1960, this recording of an impromptu session marks Jim Hall's debut as a bandleader. Under the name The Modest Jazz Trio, Jim Hall played guitar, Red Mitchell played piano (normally he played bass) and Red Kelly played bass. It was to remain the trio's only album and is a sublimely swinging set, the highlight of which is the title track, which was originally the only track they intended to record.
