This 1959 album by Max Roach is a bit different from the recordings that are otherwise known from the experimental drummer. Together with his band Max Roach +4 and the guest singer Abbey Lincoln (whom Roach was to marry four years later), he interprets here exclusively and often balladic jazz standards. After its initial release in 1960, this wonderful album was only available for a short time in 1992 as a Japan import.
