Trumpeter Lee Morgan was just 19 years old and was still at the very beginning of his long-standing collaboration with Blue Note when he recorded his lively, swinging album "City Lights" in 1957. As on his previous albums, the young trumpeter mainly presents pieces by his mentor Benny Golson, with whom he had previously played in Dizzy Gillespie's big band. Morgan himself would only later make a name for himself as a composer.
