Jimmy Smith: The Cat (Acoustic Sounds) (LP)

Under Verve producer Creed Taylor, Hammond organist Jimmy Smith recorded a whole series of recordings of well-known film themes, many of which even made it into the singles charts. Soundtrack hits can also be found on the album "The Cat". Composer, arranger and bandleader Lalo Schifrin received a Grammy for the title track. When "The Cat" - arguably Smith's best big band recording - was released in 1964, the album delighted jazz, rhythm'n'blues and pop fans alike.
