When the acid jazz and mojo club generation discovered Jimmy Smith, the album "Root Down" was always at the forefront. On the live album from 1972, the Hammond B-3 legend plays tracks with a good dose of funk and rock with a young band. The title track was sampled by the Beastie Boys in 1995 for their song of the same name.
