Stan Getz: Focus (Verve Vault) (180 g) (LP)

A somewhat unusual classic in Stan Getz's discography is the album "Focus", recorded in 1961, on which the tenor saxophonist presented himself with string accompaniment. Getz proved himself to be a masterful crossover artist between classical music and jazz. The breathtaking compositions and arrangements, which clearly stood out from the usual string arrangements in jazz, came from the relatively unknown but excellent Eddie Sauter. Four years later, Getz and Sauter worked together again successfully on the recording of the soundtrack for the neo-noir crime thriller "Mickey One".
