In the 1960s, Hammond organist Jimmy Smith and guitarist Wes Montgomery were undoubtedly among the most influential and popular jazz musicians. During the joint sessions for "Jimmy & Wes: The Dynamic Duo" in 1966, the two virtuosos were additionally fueled by a no less dynamic big band under the direction of master arranger Oliver Nelson. The album was received with such enthusiasm by critics and jazz fans that Verve released another album that same year, "Further Adventures Of Jimmy And Wes", which was recorded during the same session.
