Rush: Grace Under Pressure (Ltd. Super Deluxe Ed.) (4CD + BRD)

Grace Under Pressure is the band's 10th studio album and was released in April 1984. It was recorded at Le Studio, like so many other Rush albums. Rush had originally approached producer Steve Lillywhite to record "Grace Under Pressure", but he was working on other projects in the meantime. The band produced the album themselves, with the help of Peter Henderson, who had previously worked with Supertramp, Split Enz, Frank Zappa and King Crimson. Grace Under Pressure is considered one of the band's darkest albums and was influenced by the growing Cold War tensions of the 1980s. The consistent theme of the album is "pressure" and how people act under its influence. Despite the album's dark themes, the band balances influences from many directions, including reggae and a heavier feel of the classic hard rock sound. Writing and rehearsing the album went quickly, but the recordings took a long time. Alex recalls: "...once we were in the studio, everything took a long time. Sometimes you can't help it, no matter how hard you work or how fast you work; there are certain things about recording that just take a long time." 'Grace Under Pressure', Rush's tenth studio album, was originally released in April 1984 and features some important changes to the sound that resulted from the band's decision to evolve their sound by hiring a new producer after a successful decade of working with Terry Brown behind the mixing desk. The GUP CD box set contains 4 CDs and a Blu-ray. CD1 contains the remastered stereo mix from 1984 and CD2 contains Terry Brown's brand new stereo mix of the album. The album "Grace Under Pressure Tour: Live in Toronto 1984" can be found on CDs 3 and 4. The Blu-ray also contains the concert video, the GUP studio album remixed in Atmos & 5.1, Terry Brown's new album mix and 4 music videos. Geddy Lee wrote the liner notes and Hugh Syme's brilliant new illustrations are featured in the book.
