After briefly crossing paths in Bournemouth in the 1960s, when Fripp took over Andy's guitar chair in the band at the Majestic Hotel in Bournemouth, it wasn't until 1981 - when Summers wrote to Fripp - that the two guitarists worked together. As King Crimson had just recorded the now classic album "Discipline" after a long break, Fripp immediately responded to Summers' suggestion to work together. And although The Police were busy recording and touring "Ghost in the Machine", the two guitarists somehow managed to find time to experiment, develop and record the first of their two albums.
