With each of the nine tracks co-written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford, 1983's "Genesis" took the band to a new level of commercial success. While its predecessor "Abacab" was already a record sales record, "Genesis" doubled that and took sales in the US to a staggering 4 million copies. Includes the huge hits "Mama" and "That's All". In the spring of 1983, the members of Genesis met at their studio The Farm in Chiddingfold, Surrey, to begin work on a new studio album, their first since "Abacab" (1981). "Genesis" was the first album to be written, recorded and mixed entirely in the studio; previously they had had to write in an adjoining room. The fact that the group was working in their own space, without the added pressure of booking studio time and fees, led to a more relaxed environment.
