Ondine celebrates Beethoven's 250th birthday with a reissue of Olli Mustonen's highly acclaimed Beethoven cycle with the Tapiola Sinfonietta. Originally released on three separate albums between 2007 and 2009, the three CDs are now available as one edition for the first time. Mustonen is a worthy advocate of Beethoven's music, being, like the composer himself, both visionary and revolutionary in his approach to tradition. The recording of the First Piano Concerto included here features Mustonen's own cadenzas; Beethoven's own arrangement of his Violin Concerto for piano - also included in this collection - is one of Mustonen's musical calling cards.
