John Mayall: The Blues Alone (LP)

John Mayall came from Macclesfield, Cheshire, and grew up in Cheadle Hulme. He had already made a name for himself on the Manchester blues scene before moving to London in 1963 at the urging of Alexis Korner. John Mayall and Keef Hartley recorded The Blues Alone in one day at Decca Studios in Broadhurst Gardens in May 1967. Mayall, who writes everything himself except the drums, creates an atmospherically dense, unique interpretation of the blues. It lacks the virtuoso soloing of previous albums, but makes up for it in feeling, talent and passion. This reissue is a faithful recreation of the original 1967 stereo release on Decca Records UK and has been pressed on high quality 180g vinyl.
