Vicious Rumors: The Devil's Asylum

It's been five years since the American power metal band Vicious Rumors released their last album to date. Five years in which mastermind Geoff Thorpe and his band have played well over 150 concerts and presented their entire career in condensed form with a program of the most important VR classics. These shows have left a deep mark on the band members and at the same time released a lot of new energy. Both together now explode on the latest album 'The Devil's Asylum', which Geoff Thorpe aptly summarizes with the words: "On 'The Devil's Asylum' we go back to the roots, combined with modern influences." He says: "Vicious Rumors can look back on a 45-year career, so there can only be one goal for us: Everything we do should be of the utmost importance, every show, every song, every new album. This band has always stood for maximum intensity, for powerful music and lots of new, fresh ideas." So there is a lot to tell, not only about the new album, but also about a new line-up that is motivated to the core. In addition to band leader/founder Geoff Thorpe, original member Larry Howe (drums, vocals) is still on board, and the nucleus of the band is completed by long-time bassist Robin Utbult. In addition, Vicious Rumors have been able to raise their playing level to an even higher level with two new signings. One is singer Chalice and the other is guitarist Denver Cooper, who - like Chalice - also hails from Cape Coral in Florida. The first single and video for the song "Bloodbath" is a rough speed metal attack with melodic vocals and a thrashy guitar riff that perfectly combines its gripping heaviness with tempo and catchiness.
