"Waltz For Debby" is the second album recorded at the Village Vanguard in 1961. While the focus of the first album Sunday at the Village Vanguard was on Scott LaFaro's solo work, "Waltz For Debby" is a portrait of the trio, which consisted of drummer Paul Motian alongside Evans and LaFaro. Evans shows a different side here than in his work with Miles Davis, for example; his style is clearly more emotional. The trio's interplay is impressive.
