Popis
"Portraits" is the name pianist Chick Corea has given his new double CD, which he recorded solo live. On it, he not only interprets well-known works by some of his favorite composers, but also a new recording of his own extremely popular "Children's Song" cycle Among those portrayed here are jazz pianists such as Thelonious Monk ("'Round Midnight", "Pannonica", "Blue Monk"), Bud Powell ("Dusk In Sandi", "Oblivion") and Bill Evans ("Waltz For Debby"), but also Stevie Wonder ("Pasttime Paradise") and the recently deceased flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía ("The Yellow Nimbus"), as well as the classical composers Alexander Scriabin ("Prelude #2 & #4, Opus 11") and Béla Bartók ("Bagatelle #1 - #4"). In their entirety, all these "portraits" also add up to an artistic self-portrait of one of the greatest pianists in jazz.
