Christy Baron: Take This Journey

Her American compatriots know the smart Christy Baron from Hollywood productions or the Broadway version of "Les Miserables. In Europe, however, the woman from Pittsburgh is more appreciated for her voice that gets under the skin and the ingenious nonchalance with which she combines pop and jazz. She succeeds brilliantly in the latter on her third album Take This Journey, on which she presents idiosyncratic versions of songs like Happy Together (The Turtles), That Old Devil Moon (Frank Sinatra), Stand Behind Me and First Day In August (both originals by Carole King) or Overjoyed (Stevie Wonder). Accompanied by accomplished jazz musicians, Christy Baron casually outshines predecessors like Sade or Vaya Con Dios with Take This Journey. A feat that a singer between jazz and pop should first imitate!
