The great alto saxophonist Jackie McLean(1932-2006) is in blazing form on this live quartet album recorded at the Hnita Hoeve Jazz Club, Belgium on April 2, 1991 with a superb but little-known rhythm secton of pianist Hotep Idris Galeta, bassist Nat Reeves & drummer Carl Allen. The six memorable tracks include two originals each from McLean & Galeta, one from Rene McLean and an impressive version of Thelonious Monk's ''Round Midnight'. 'The Jackie Mac Attack Live' contains almost an hour of inventive jazz and this overlooked live recording is a fine example of McLean's fiery and passionate alto playing.
