The Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich has a long tradition of performing the music of Peter Tchaikovsky, which began as early as 1896 with a performance of the Sixth Symphony in the Tonhalle on the shores of Lake Zurich, which had only recently been inaugurated by Brahms. Paavo Järvi, since the 2019 / 20 season chief conductor of the tradition-steeped Swiss orchestra, can therefore rely on an orchestra experienced in this regard, especially for the famous Pathétique.
