The Stanley Clarke / George Duke Project is a cross-genre fusion of electro-funk, rock, R&B, smooth soul, and fusion. It features crowd-pleasing solos from all the performers and George Duke’s smooth vocal style on the hits “Sweet Baby” and “Brazilian Love Affair.” “Wild Dog” and the reworking of the ultimate American party song, “Louie, Louie,” are from the duo’s first album. The rest of the set—including “Silly Putty” and “Rock ’n’ Roll Jelly”—comes from Clarke’s albums *Journey to Love* and *Modern Man*. During their performance at the Denen Coliseum in Tokyo on July 24, 1981—broadcast by NHK-FM as part of the Live Under The Sky Festival—the guys give it their all and have a blast in front of an audience that seems to be having way too much fun.
