This special release celebrates the 20th anniversary of "The Grind Date". The LP is available as limited edition splatter vinyl and contains 4 instrumental versions of the main tracks alongside the original album.
De La Soul is an influential hip-hop group formed in the late 1980s. The trio, consisting of members Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos), David Jude Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove) and Vincent Mason (Maseo), is known for its unique sound and innovative approach to hip-hop. They are often credited with helping to shape the landscape of the genre with their eclectic style, use of sampling and positive messages.
"The Grind Date" is De La Soul's sixth studio album and was released in 2004. The album marked a significant return for the group after a hiatus since their last album in 2001. "The Grind Date" features De La Soul's signature blend of clever lyrics, innovative production and a mix of playful and introspective themes. The album features a wealth of exciting guest appearances from artists including MF Doom, Ghostface Killah, Flava Flav and Sean Paul.
