Black Sabbath was founded in Birmingham in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums and percussion). Originally formed as a heavy blues rock band called "Earth", the band began combining occult and horror-inspired lyrics with down-tuned guitars, changed their name to Black Sabbath and released several gold and platinum albums in the 1970s. "The Ultimate Collection" was compiled by the band members and includes 17 tracks, including classics from the band such as "Paranoid", "Iron Man", "War Pigs", "N. I.B." and "The Wizard" as well as selected tracks from their classic albums. The collection was remastered in 2009 by renowned sound engineer Andy Pearce (Motörhead, Deep Purple, Lou Reed, Iggy & The Stooges).
