When funk music took the global pop music scene by storm at the end of the 1960s, many of the leading Jamaican musicians were inspired by this exciting sound and integrated elements into their works. The result was the fascinating and infectious funky reggae style, which enjoyed great popularity with record buyers on both sides of the Atlantic in the early 1970s. Among the pioneers of this sound were such celebrated producers as Lee "Scratch" Perry and Lloyd Charmers, whose recordings feature heavily on the CD and LP versions of this irresistible collection.
