Glass: Einstein on the Beach / Suzanne Vega (2CD)

New recording of Philip Glass' "Einstein on the Beach". Recorded at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, this version brings together the ensemble Ictus, the Collegium Vocale Gent from Ghent and Suzanne Vega, an icon of the New York folk revival. In 2018, Ictus and Collegium Vocale Gent, with the support of visual artist Germaine Kruip, set themselves a daring challenge: to deliver a purely musical interpretation of Einstein on the Beach, which is now widely regarded as a manifesto of minimalist music. Suzanne Vega later joined the project and took on all the spoken roles. Carried by the physical commitment of the performers, this version retains the hypnotic power of the original score while opening up new sonic perspectives. After a successful tour of Europe, the work was recorded at the renowned Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg in November 2022.
