WMG releases the Grateful Dead's 1973 debut album "Wake of the Flood" on 9/29-23: remastered and expanded with previously unreleased material
in 1973, following the death of founding member Ron "Pigpen" McKernan and the temporary departure of drummer Mickey Hart, the Grateful Dead released "Wake Of The Flood." As the debut album of their own record label, Grateful Dead Records, the studio LP marked a time of transition, growth, perseverance and optimism for the band. It also introduced a new lineup that included new members Keith and Donna Godchaux.
