Booker T. & The M.G.s: Green Onions

The music of Booker T & The M.G. is in the consciousness of everyone who is somewhat interested in music, because their songs were often sampled by famous stars. The foundation for their successful career was laid back in 1962 with their hit "Green Onions". Booker T. & The M.G.'s were the backing band for the soul duo Sam & Dave, and it was their hits that were revisited years later by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi and brought to a white audience for the movie Blues Brothers. Green Onions is the debut album of Booker T. & the M.G.'s, released in October 1962 on Stax Records. It reached #33 on the pop album charts in the month of its release. The title single was a worldwide hit and was covered by dozens of artists, including the Blues Brothers and Roy Buchanan (both with Steve Cropper on guitar), as well as The Ventures, Al Kooper, The Shadows, Mongo Santamaría and Count Basie.
