Popis
Eagerly awaited by many, MASSIVE ATTACK have now finally completed their fourth studio album. It is called "100th Window", which refers to the book "Dictionary Of Now" by Charles Jennings and Lori Fener, which deals in the broadest sense with the transparency and controllability of the individual, which can arise through computers.
The album, which is already described by many as a new masterpiece of the standard-setting band, opens up - like the other three successful albums - a bit more with each listen. That this is not an obstacle to commerciality has been proven by the excellent sales of the previous albums, which contained just as few classic single hits and easily consumable pop music, but still sold well over 300,000 copies each, as in the case of the last album "Mezzanine".
The new album is almost entirely penned by 3D, who also produced with longtime MASSIVE companion Neil Davidge. It features two guest musicians - the almost band member Horace Andy and Sinead O'Connor, who also lent her voice to the first single "Special Cases." A great, as always, innovative video will support this single
Extensive live performances are also planned for 2003 - first in two cities in smaller halls, then at festivals and finally again on a larger scale in more cities
There are nine tracks on "100th Window" with a total playing time of over an hour. After track nine there is also an untitled instrumental loop (not a `hidden track') that 3D describes as "13 minute long bassline to do dinner to / sleep at the wheel to / or fuck your brains out to".
