Popis
Kotaro Fukuma, born in Tokyo, is one of the outstanding pianists of our time. He is known for his extraordinary approach and breathtaking virtuosity. He has already received numerous awards in international competitions such as Arthur Rubinstein (Tel Aviv), Maj Lind (Helsinki) or Gina Bachauer (Salt Lake City). At the age of 20, he was awarded first prize and the Chopin Prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2003, and since then his concert career has taken him to five continents. This album France Romance is Kotaro Fukuma's homage to France, where he studied with Bruno Rigutto and Marie-Françoise Bucquet. Fukuma selected several pieces that reference important milestones in his pianist career - from classics by Debussy, Ravel. Fauré, Satie and Poulenc, to songs by Charles Trenet arranged by Alexis Weissenberg, and Fukuma's own transcriptions.
