Paper Moon - Songs by Manos Hadjidakis (SACD)

One of the most important Greek composers, Manos Hadjidakis, a legend in his home country, is also very well known internationally thanks to a catalog of works that serves many genres from concert to popular songs to stage works and film scores. Since early childhood, his music played a significant role in the life of Elena Papandreou. The idea for this recital Paper Moon came from her friendship with the French guitarist, composer and arranger Roland Dyens. The latter arranged a number of songs for her. After Dyens' death in 2016, his student Orestis Kalampalikis continued to work on the arrangements. The album is concluded by the 2020 "Preludio de la Nostalgia" from the pen of Cuban composer Leo Brouwer. This work is also inspired by Hadjidakis and can be considered a tribute.
