To celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Piano Duo Genova & Dimitrov realises a fervent wish with a genuine mammoth of a project: the two pianists have recorded Sergei Rachmaninoff’s complete oeuvre for piano duo as a cpo double CD. The manifold colours in these pieces full of musical ideas…an homage to their idol Rachmaninoff. But nobody can describe this music better than the pianists themselves: ‘Rachmaninoff, Second Suite; Schubert, Fantasy; Mozart, Sonata!’ This is the authoritative answer that we received at the end of 1995 from our teacher, the piano legend Vladimir Krainev, when we were students in his solo class at the Hanover College of Music and asked which works we might prepare for our first piano duo competition.
