Shortly after the election of the last German Chancellor on January 30, 1933, which went down in history as the "seizure of power", the composer Paul Frankenburger made his way to Palestine. The then British protectorate, a developing country in terms of Western culture, benefited considerably from the arrival of the Munich native, who henceforth called himself Paul Ben-Haim ("Son of Henry") and from then on carried out a wide range of pioneering work. Following on from the two symphonies of the influential teacher and administrator, a comprehensive anthology is now being published under the direction of violinist Liv Migdal with concertante works such as the Fantasie Yizkor, duo compositions for violin and piano and selected songs, which leaves no doubt that Paul Ben-Haim was an unmistakable voice of Israel.
