"Flicted" is the third in a trilogy of song collections based largely on film scores written for Spike Lee in recent years. Lyrically, the record is peppered with three Covid-related songs, the aforementioned "Days Ahead" and album opener "Sidelines" (a duet with Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig), and otherwise goes far afield, with the world of science a recurring influence ("Lidar" and "Point Omega") The album also features the first cover song Bruce Hornsby has ever released on a studio album, a reinterpretation of Chuck Berry's "Too Much Monkey Business." The album title "'Flicted" refers to this strange time we live in, where the world is basically, well, 'flicted'!
