On July 25, 2008, the world’s fastest saxophonist passed away unexpectedly at his home in France, shortly after his 80th birthday. The entire jazz world mourns the loss of the tenor saxophonist, affectionately known as “The Little Giant” by friends and fans, who earned an excellent reputation through collaborations with Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, and Klaus Doldinger, as well as with blues legends such as T-Bone Walker and Muddy Waters. And so *Live in London* stands as the final musical record of this unique artist. At the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Club, Johnny Griffin and his top-notch bandmates (Roy Hargrove, Paul Kuhn, Billy Cobham, James Pearson, Davis Newton, and Reggie Johnson) were in top form during this one-of-a-kind concert in May 2008.
