Mozart's operas based on libretti by Lorenzo Da Ponte are undoubtedly among the great classics of the operatic repertoire. The legendary Royal Opera House London brought the works to the stage in highly acclaimed productions, which are now collected in this beautiful box set In the Royal Opera House's production of Così fan tutte, the German star tenor Daniel Behle shone as Ferrando, among others, in an outstanding ensemble including Corinne Winters, Angela Brower, Martin Kränzle and under the musical direction of none other than Semyon Bychkov. The character of Don Giovanni is at his most captivating when he is somewhere between hopelessly villainous and hopelessly heroic and romantic, as in Kaspar Holten's spectacular production of Mozart's masterpiece. The cast, led by Mariusz Kwiewcien as Don Giovanni, included some of the best Mozart singers of our time. No less prominent was the cast of Le Nozze di Figaro: Erwin Schrott as Figaro, Miah Persson as Susanna and Antonio Pappano at the conductor's podium.
