Brüggen's outstanding feel for Bach's musical structures, for the style and textures of this music can only be found with very few other conductors on the early music scene. This is also evident in his recording of Bach's Easter Oratorio, which Bach evidently particularly appreciated, as the Thomaskantor recorded the work a total of four times. The organ concerto in D minor, derived from instrumental cantata introductory movements, is a delightful addition to the repertoire.
