Charlie Lee Byrd, one of the first modern guitarists to believe in reintroducing the unamplified Spanish guitar to jazz, was born in Suffolk, Virginia on September 16, 1925. This album presents three complete sessions from 1962 in which Byrd plays Brazilian music (or tunes he composed in the Brazilian style) as the main soloist.
