Dee Dee Bridgewater: Bad For Me

On this 1979 album, Dee Dee takes on the mantle of disco diva. "Bad For Me," the title track, is one of the best club songs of all time. The material is strong, and the jazz influences give the album more weight than the usual material released by contemporaries at the time. This upbeat disco album embodies everything that was right about the disco era. Sure, it has since ascended to the upper echelons of jazz, but this is where it got its start. She adds depth and fire to the dance tracks "Don't Say It" and the sassy "For The Girls," and the album closes with the excellent Ashford & Simpson-penned "Is This What Feeling Gets" from The Wiz.
