Ben Watt: Fever Dream

It was 1981 when the then 19-year-old Watt attracted attention with his first EP "Summer Into Winter" (which also features Robert Wyatt). His solo works are certainly overshadowed by the huge success of Everything But The Girl with Tracey Thorn, which came a short time later. But his solo debut was already #1 in the British independent album charts. It was the year before last when Ben Watt returned to his roots as a singer/songwriter after 16 years as songwriter, producer and performer of the duo Everything But The Girl, after a good decade as head of the multi-award-winning electronic label Buzzin' Fly and as radio host at BBC 6Music, and as such released his second album "Hendra". The critics were enthusiastic. 'Fever Dream' - self-produced in London's RAK Studio 2, now continues the finely spun folk-jazz with subtle sprinklings of distorted guitar lines of 'Hendra', and is no less brooding. Again Bernard Butler (ex-Suede) can be heard on the six strings.
