Popis
Celebrate the legendary pop sounds of the ’80s with this brand-new 3-CD collection, featuring 60 spectacular pop classics from 1980–1984.
CD 1 kicks off with Wham!’s chart-topping hit “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” followed by well-known favorites from ABC and Kenny Loggins, as well as timeless sing-along hits like “Come On Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Runners and “I Want Candy” by Bow Wow Wow. Classics by Adam & The Ants, Haircut 100, Kajagoogoo, and Nik Kershaw pave the way for unforgettable favorites like “Kids In America” by Kim Wilde, “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell, and “Jump (For My Love)” by the Pointer Sisters, before the collection concludes with the dancefloor hit “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” by Deniece Williams.
CD 2 begins with Duran Duran and their legendary “Rio,” followed by Culture Club’s global hit “Karma Chameleon.” The hits continue with standout tracks by Sister Sledge, Spandau Ballet, and Blondie, as well as some of the era’s most popular newcomers, including Toyah, Haysi Fantayzee, and Alison Moyet (solo). The rest of the second CD exudes retro charm with ’60s-style pop songs influenced by jazz and rock ’n’ roll, from Matt Bianco, Shakin’ Stevens, and the Stray Cats. The album concludes with Bad Manners’ version of “Can Can.”
CD 3 kicks off with Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s hit “Two Tribes,” which spent nine weeks at the top of the charts, followed by the biggest hit of 1981, “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League. Artists who enjoyed early chart success include Heaven 17, Tears For Fears, and Men At Work. UB40 and Musical Youth present reggae-influenced pop, followed by an exuberant series of high-energy pop songs featuring hits by Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin, Aneka, The Weather Girls, The Nolans, Dollar, and a grand finale with Bucks Fizz’s No. 1 hit “My Camera Never Lies.”
