David Garrett: Immortal

German-American violinist David Garrett is releasing his new album, *Immortal*, on Deutsche Grammophon—a deeply personal and, at the same time, highly ambitious project. Driven by the firm conviction that music transcends time, Garrett pays tribute on *Immortal* to some of history’s most significant composers, including W. A. Mozart, Claude Debussy, and John Williams. The album will be released on October 9, 2026, on CD and vinyl. Following the huge success of his last classical album, *Iconic* (2022, jpc 10950466), which went gold, *Immortal* marks an important new chapter in David Garrett’s artistic development. “When we talk about things that come close to immortality, art—especially music—is undoubtedly one of them,” says David Garrett. “Over the past twelve months, I’ve made it my mission to do justice to every single composer on the album.” The standard version of *Immortal* features 20 tracks, while the deluxe edition includes 25. Each piece was crafted with the utmost care and reflects Garrett’s deep musical understanding as well as his commitment to authenticity. “I’m proud to say that this project is 100% handmade,” he adds. “I hope that listeners will not only enjoy the sound but also feel the human presence in the music.” Garrett created all of the album’s arrangements himself. He was supported by co-arrangers Franck van der Heijden and John Haywood, who bring additional depth and sonic diversity to the orchestral arrangements. The album was recorded together with the orchestra The Prezent and pianist Julien Quentin, whose energy and expressiveness significantly shape the album’s sound. With *Immortal*, David Garrett not only pays tribute to the timeless works of the past but also underscores the enduring significance of music in today’s world, which is characterized by artistic individuality and technical mastery.
